Publication Ethics & Best Practices

The Journal of Engineering, Science and Technological Trends (JESTT) follows the editorial guidelines and policies of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in letter and spirit and operates according to the  Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB) and DOAJ Principles of Transparency

Editors and Referees

Our editors and referees are required to declare any conflict of interest related to the manuscript they are requested to evaluate. To ensure transparent double-blind peer review, the identities of authors are not disclosed to referees, and vice versa. Manuscript submission by the editor/associate editor or by any member of the editorial board is not allowed.

Authors

Journal of Engineering, Science and Technological Trends (JESTT) follows internationally recognized standards of responsible authorship. Authorship should reflect meaningful intellectual and scholarly contributions to the research and should not be assigned solely on the basis of academic position, institutional affiliation, supervision, funding, or administrative responsibility. An individual should be listed as an author only when they have fulfilled the following criteria:

  • Substantial contribution: The individual has made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the data.
  • Contribution to the manuscript: The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or has critically reviewed it for significant intellectual content.
  • Final approval: The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before its submission or publication.
  • Accountability: The individual agrees to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that any questions concerning the accuracy, reliability, validity, or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Note: All authors are collectively responsible for the integrity of the published work. Each author should have sufficient knowledge of the overall research to take responsibility for their own contribution and should be able to identify which co-author is responsible for particular aspects of the study. Authors should also have reasonable confidence in the integrity and reliability of the contributions made by their co-authors.

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication with the journal and ensuring that all required information and documentation are submitted accurately and in a timely manner. The corresponding author should remain reasonably accessible throughout the submission and peer-review process and respond promptly to editorial queries, requests for clarification, revisions, or additional documentation. Following publication, the corresponding author should also remain available to address legitimate questions, comments, or concerns regarding the published article and should cooperate with the journal if additional information, data, methodological clarification, or documentation is required.

Note: Contributors who do not satisfy authorship criteria should be acknowledged (in the acknowledgment section) for their contributions rather than listed as authors.

Authors are expected to adopt the general ethical standards in their research and writing, ensuring that:

  • The submitted work or any of its essential content has not been previously published in a refereed journal and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. To ensure this, the editors screen out the submissions using the anti-plagiarism software, i.e., Turnitin.com.
  • Published relevant material/work referred to by the authors in their research must be properly cited.
  • Mentioning and acknowledging the sources of funding and significant help is the ethical obligation of the authors.
  • Obtaining consent from the parties with vested interests is the ethical responsibility of the authors.
  • Mentioning and acknowledging the potential conflicts of interest is the ethical obligation of the authors.

If a published paper or its essential content is found to have been published before or if any other unethical conduct by the authors is verified, the journal will take one or more of the following actions:

  • Publish a notice
  • Retract the paper
  • Prevent the corresponding author from publishing in JESTT
  • Report the impropriety to the corresponding author, co-authors, employer, head of the department (HOD), and funding body.

Complaints

Journal of Engineering, Science and Technological Trends publishes corrections only when significant errors arise from author errors (Corrigenda) or editorial mistakes (Errata). If there is a serious complaint about a journal’s own procedures, the Chief Editor will confer with the corresponding author and any relevant member of the editorial board to resolve the problem. If these procedures prove unacceptable, the matter will be referred for outside adjudication as per COPE guidelines.
